Kamisama Dolls - Halfway Highlight

Yet another unnecessary post to start 2012.
Basically a compilation of what I think was the highlight of 6 episodes of Kamisama Dolls so far.
Please disregard my blatant bias-ness. AKI GALORE

Episode #1
Aki's appearance, and all the things he did to grate Kyohei's nerves.
Glaring, seething and breathing into each other's faces is another thing though.

Episode #2
Well, Sawashiro Miyuki's character is interesting. I honestly cannot remember her name...
Though she does piss me off sometimes, I think it's her obsession with abnormal things?
Kyosuke is an interesting way to call your detective oyaji.

Episode #3
Aki's appearance.
It was a nice, warm scene you know. Osananajimi reunion with a burger and a friendly(?) comment...
Until Kyohei raged and Koushiro appeared.

Episode #4
Strip naked Aki.
Drawn body, fake abs and a whole lot of trash.
Despite that, we have stripped down Aki, rejoice!
Oh and he slashed Sawashiro-san's character's clothes, lingerie included.

Episode #4
Aki officially introduces himself to Hibino.
He also taunts Kyohei with Hibino and Sensei's resemblance.
Kyohei rages, naturally.

Episode #5
Kirio's appearance.
At first I thought he might be Utao's clone or something but turns out to be Kyohei and her actual younger brother.
Despite his temperaments, he is definitely more skilled and enjoyable that Utao. ~~Shota FTW.~~

Episode #6
Hibino's airborne fanservice, courtesy of the Kuga siblings.
Kyohei pulls her top off while Utao pulls her pants down.
A pretty(?) set of PINK lingerie is revealed!!!

Watching Samurai Champloo ~~in HQ no less~~ again after a long time felt so AWESOME.
I must emphasise on the 720p quality of the videos because I previously watched the series on Veoh.

I realise I totally removed Fuu's first appearance but oh well, she will appear in the end. ~~Let's not forget 'em bomb boob implants!~~

Hearing Nakai Kazuya made me squeal. Mugen and his I-give-no-shit diabolical jackass attitude is so bad it's good.

Got quite excited about Production I.g.'s Guilty Crown, haven't gotten about watching it yet.

Got to admit that the OST is good. Fellow anime-watchers I know are not too impressed with Guilty Crown.

I really liked the ending sequence and song

Felt the same excitement with Fate/Zero, still haven't gotten to watching it yet. But at least I've watched scenes of Lancer's past as well as Velvet and Iskander's BROmance courtesy of meganenohito.

So blatant, it's subtle... or the other way around?

So more progress compared to GC, which I've only heard the opening song so far.
Would like to watch Kyoukai Senjou no Horizon too ~~because of FukuJun~~, but meganenohito says there's BOOBIES of all kinds.

I'm not exactly most boobie-friendly person but I guess I can tryyyyyy...
But hey...!! I did watch the second season of Sekaiichi Hatsukoi, albeit just the ToriChiaki episodes *looks sideways*

Moving on to Winter 2011,
there are a few series that appealed to me.
Chances of watching the first episodes: 50%. Chances of following weekly till the end 15-20%.

Les-yay-cest to be expected?

NISEMONOGATARI is a must-watch but the odds are I'll marathon the episodes after a couple of weeks...
Another and Thermae Romae looks fascinating. There's also another season of Natsume Yuujinchou *to rejoice?*
partially influenced by meganenohito, Danshi no Kokosei no Nichijou and InuxBoku SS is appealing too. Gotta admit the InuxBoku SS poster looks yummy + NakaYuu = WIN.

Pedo potential + NakaYuu + Wolf + Butlers = WIN

Aquarion Evol has a star-studded seiyuu cast, Mr. Kawamori from Escaflowne, Macross+, Ghost in the Shell and Yoko Kanno for music, should be an EPIC WIN as well...

AND WE THOUGHT 2012 WAS THE END OF THE WORLD.

I really liked the art style of Kono Danshi.

Firstly it was original and I find the colour scheme really pleasing. It reminded me a little of Gankutsuou, but not so painful to the eyes.

The story is quite straightforward with a sweet ending.
A very interesting and enjoyable watch.

Aliens invade Earth one day where only one boy can fight them. With no memory prior to meeting Arikawa and Shiro, he then joins the Aliens Counter-attack Headquarters.

#4 THE KISS. I said "Oh Wow" when I saw it. The phrases 'goodnight kiss' and 'farewell kiss' are filled with subtext.

No.6 6 - I really don't know what to say

And we are now at the sixth episode of No.6. LOL?

Safu finally sees the flaws of No.6 after her grandmother’s death in which the late lady’s personal belongings were tampered with.

She also finally learns that Shion is no longer a fellow citizen. Zetsubou dashita!!!

Heroic “I will go and see Shion no matter what!!!” followed by a love confession to her future(?) mother-in-law. I like her character but I can’t help but scoff at her decision to go to the West District to search (read: meet and carry out reproductive activities. LOL) for beloved Shion. She even declares that she will not regret not being able to return to No.6. This gives me a 50/50 divide on her character, she could be surprisingly resilient and survive outside OR have the sheltered No.6 lifestyle and scientific jargon get in her way. She might even get jealous of Shion and Nezumi’s relationship, and I do not mean the kind that fujos imagine. Because as far as I see, I believe the two have a substantial amount of trust in each other which totally makes Nezumi a tsundere.

Shion has another noble moment, expressing his wish to return to No.6 and create a serum from his blood despite being declared as a felon. His partner Nezumi scoffs and does an Izaya-inspired threat with a flickblade.

The two argue about their differences in ideology, again. Nezumi being cynical to Shion’s ideals.

Shion continues to believe that he does not need to choose between Nezumi or No.6 because he loves both too much. I personally do not blame him since it is a rather difficult decision. However this fickle-heroic attitude is risky.

Nezumi too shows his selfishness by choosing (most likely?) to not inform Shion of his mother’s call for help. That’s how much he wants Shion to choose him. I am very curious of his hatred against No.6. It was shown that he was fairly young when sent to the correctional facility (or was he a transported felon?) and escaped, leading to his first meeting with the genius student Shion. Even after escaping, four years later he suddenly appears to whisk his princess away and seems to be keeping tabs (read: stalk) on Shion via cute little mice.

Seriously… WHAT THE EFF IS CITY NO.6??!!

Next week, more drama and choices. Hopefully we see whether Safu reunites with her beloved. And of course there's this preview *points down*

As far as I wish it to turn out to be something NezumiShion shippers ARE UBER HAPPY ABOUT, I am rather doubtful that it would happen.

No.6 5 - To be or not to be?

Cravat the mouse is deadly.

Very hard not to read between the lines with misleading scenes (the dance lesson and the crossdressing on a bed) and yet another confession-like dialogue.
And does anyone else not think that Nezumi and Shion are like practically married already?
There is more to Shion’s past, and Karan, than meets the eye. Who exactly is he? He survived the bee’s ‘attack’ and can possibly easily subdue Nezumi.
What happened to Safu and Nezumi during the dizzy spell?
The bees are active despite the winter and have taken a few other victims. No.6 slowly falling into chaos. Rikiga-san is concerned.
Quite an amount of symbols in this episode.

Seme!Shion?

We're now halfway through the planned episodes. Will BONES wrap the series up or go at a comfortable pace?

Penguin Drum 5 - The Hero, Kanba

Shoma attempts to tell the truth of the penguin force to the Doctor as well as Apple with unpleasing consequences.
Sho-chan is not going to end up with Apple na??!! na??!! na??!!
The croissant-haired-female offers ~~some~~I mean very little, insight to the brewing plot.
Family is VERY important. Kanba has proven the fact very clearly, so has Sho-chan.
Where have the parents gone? Could they be related to the whole Penguin Force fiasco as well?
Who is the man in black that handed $$$ to Kanba? It is claimed to be clean $$$.
~~Tabuki is an idiot. Or rather he just gets onto my nerves.~~
We need more redblue and penguin time.
Love Himari’s lines as Penguin Ojou. Apple seriously needed the wake-up call. Whether or not she now believes in the Penguin Force remains to be seen.
When Apple threw away the penguin hat in frustration, it reminded me a little of Madoka Magica – when Madoka threw away Sayaka’s Soul Gem. Kanba and Sho-chan play Homura’s role in Brain Base’s version. Gah, maybe I’m reading into it too much??!! I previously did not realize that Himari will die without the hat since she goes around without it.

EDIT #1: I have this weird thought. Kanba and Himari are actually clones of their parents of some sort and will end up together one way or another. Shoma is the unfortunate failure of mama clone. Sci-fi and TvTropes have been messing with my imagination...

So, I sorta managed to finish watching the Boku no Sexual Harassment OVAs.
Instead of skipping the (in)famous scenes that features a cob of corn and a bourbon bottle used for kinky reasons, I actually skipped the part that featured a perverted ojii-san. Yes, I believe old-man-BL-smex is not my cuppa.

Oh and I also finished the first season of Gunslinger Girl. Not sure if I should be excited about watching Il Teatrino since the production was taken over by Artland from Madhouse.

No.6 04 - And it gets even more homotastic

Trying hard not to read between the lines. I’m failing.

If I’m any (more) biased, I’d say the whole show is about Nezumi and Shion growing to be with each other. The chemistry they have with each other is slowly becoming as though Everyone Can See It.
It really doesn’t help that Shion goes a little berserk, Nezumi and his anti-I-will-save-you attitude, Nezumi and “he belongs to me”, Nezumi and his apparent male-magnet status; not to mention that Shion gives off rather uke vibes sometimes. I know he’s probably bottom anyway.
Nezumi’s dialogue and Shion’s linguistic comprehension fuels the more-than-meets-the-eye “thing” between them. I doubt Nezumi will labeled it using the R-word.
Shion’s mother, Karan, may be involved or have knowledge about something fishy happening behind the scenes in No.6. Who’s that megane fella? Novel readers, don't spoil it for me.
Have I mentioned that Nezumi is friggin amusing to watch? I think I sniggered quite a few times watching him saying his lines.
Shion’s childish innocence makes him an oddball in the “real world” which is quite endearing to watch.
Dogkeeper is also another interesting character, though I’m not really sure whether (its) a she or a he. Personally I love Dogkeeper’s lines in this episode, especially those used to taunt Nezumi and his emotions.
The three little mice gets named~! Meet Hamlet, Cravat and Moonlit (according to subs). Nezumi is of course irritated since he has a strict policy of not getting attached which is slowly breaking. His expression when Shion introduced the newly-named mice is priceless.

Next week, hopefully more is revealed about area No.6, the research team with the megane man and the virus within. Also, more Safu screentime and yet another misleading preview involving Shion hanging over a hime!Nezumi(?).

Penguin Drum 04 - Fate and its playful ways

Sometimes I wonder why they're genetically red and blue...

We need more brotherly moments, sibling-ly moments and PENGUINNNNNNNNNS.
Brain’s Base’s animation and amusing use of colours make me wanna laugh really hard. It’s a good thing.
Daydreams + Mind theatre + Rose of Versailles = adds more to Apple’s character. I think she’s sinister.
I realize I can hardly take Ishida Akira seriously anymore.
Fate plays with Apple today, though everything was fulfilled at the end. Can I say that Tabuki is slightly getting on my nerves? GAH.
Sho-chan I feel for you. And what happened to Kanba after his supposed divine retribution?!
The conspiracy slowly builds up, a new character with croissant-ish hair is introduced with her back facing the screen.
Survival strategy sequence was not activated. Brothers held a mafiaesque discussion that fully utilized the penguins – HIMARI NO TAME NI.
Is this production going to go twisty, make one confused with all the inter-relativity and kill one of the siblings off? *gasp*

Yay, it's Thursday !!! This means the few shows that I'm following this season will be aired today.

On the other hand, going through the list of completed animes and being tempted to watch certain series is a process that evokes a mix of emotions. Firstly, I do not know how to prioritise - which should I download first??!! Should I stick to one anime and marathon it ??!! Sometimes I cringe at the filesize but for 720p (or anything of similar quality) comes some test of patience. Megane no hito, have I become a quality-junkie ??!!

Moving on from my opening paragraph of woe, here's my active downloading list. I didn't want to label it as watching 'cause of Anime-Planet.

1. Neon Genesis Evangelion
For Ayanami Rei and mindeffing emo-ness courtesy of Gainax and Hideaki Anno. I'm still waiting for ~~Athrun Zala~~Kaworu Nagisa to appear... Gotta finish the original series soon.
Still have End of EVA and Rebirth of EVA to download.

2. Gunslinger Girl
Just finished downloading the first season yesterday. I've watched till episode 4, so far it's good as the episodes puts each girl in the spotlight. Hopefully I don't get bored of the pacing.

3. Gankutsuou
Managed to sorta influence Megane no Hito to watch this. Said friend has completed it as of today. Apparently the series with FukuJun's breakout role as Albert. Personally, I think Lelouch vi Britania is more FukuJun-awesome-ness. To be honest, I was scared of this series when I first saw it on Animax. Decided to give it a try after reading the introduction@tvtropes and Jouji Nakata.

4. Peacemaker Kurogane
Looted this from a friend. Watching it for the ho-yay and SHINSENGUMI. Dropped it for the first time few years back because I couldn't take the main character (he's a redhead *gasp*) seriously. Did I mention there's Jouji Nakata, again? Also features Saiga Mitsuki, Yamaguchi Kappei, ToriKou and SuwaJun.

5. RahXephon
Giving this a try merely because of its supposed mind screw that is compared to Evangelion. Plus it's Bones-mecha, should be worth it.

6. Ergo Proxy
I'm intrigued by the protagonist's eyeshadow. My cousin loves this show (she's into sci-fi-ish series) and recommended I watch this a while ago. Decided to give it a try after learning that this is a Manglobe production.

Others that are on my watch-list but is delayed in terms of downloading include Katanagatari, Break Blade and RIN ~Daughters of Mnemosyne~.

No.6 03 - Finally bleached his hair

Slightly baffled by the direction of the plot, even if I do understand where everything is heading.
The BL can be seen if you choose to. Simple act of head rubbing and cheek caressing can be passed off as Nezumi reassuring Shion. YMMV.
I choose to see the BL - pain-driven scene on a bed which involves scalpel and Nezumi doing his thing.
Nezumi is a snarky, dramatic Shakespeare fan.
Shion is idealistically naive, due to his sheltered upbringing in No.6. Makes me feel exasperated sometimes.

I don't really have much to say after watching the first episode but "I WILL EFFING FOLLOW THIS LOYALLY".

No.6 is one (and earliest) of the few titles that I have decided to watch this season. As a Japanese-illiterate, I'm not a reader of the novel this anime is based on and hence, I don't have any particular expectations for it.
With 9 tankobon volumes and only 11 episodes, I hope the plot doesn't fall short or gets rushed.

Mawaru Penguin Drum 01 - Threesomes

It's the season of penguins. Moving on from Hollywood's Mr Popper's Penguins, we have a new Summer series from Japan that involves the creatures from North Pole.

Brain Base's new project is (I highly doubt) only about penguin forces extending the lifespan of two brother's beloved sister. The pilot episode created a landscape that some of us may not have imagined, considering that PVs released were rather mysterious. The setting was beautifully executed the house especially. As for the characters, they were colour-coded for convenience.

I personally am not too sure what to expect next as the episode did left quite a few things unexplained for the viewers to scratch their heads and expect more perhaps. Where are their parents? This maybe played both ways I guess, it can be major plot material or otherwise. What's with all the penguins? There's three cute looking ones that only the siblings can see and another mahou-shoujo-inspired Queen that aims for a survival strategy. Oh, and let's not forget about the hat Shoma bought for Himari at the aquarium. Why does Himari get the special room and bed no less? I think this is just my own curiosity. There's also something about apples I believe. The fruit is featured in the opening sequence and was mentioned in the story as well. Finally, one of the closing scene showed Kanba kiss(ing) his dearest sister poor Shoma is somehow left out. THAT is one big plot twist (?) there.

I haven't taken a liking to both the opening and ending sequence yet but listening to it a few times might change my mind. Looking forward to the next episode. Hopefully I end up blogging this series?

Okay, so I've seen this poster on the back of my Gakken Animedia(?) for a while. Finally decided to give it a shot :D

First impression is good.

The character design looks nice and there's mecha. I'm not really a sucker for machines but this mecha looks promising. Main guy is blonde, hm... please don't be too nice of a person. Has ~~Sou~~ seiyuu done any badass character?? Anyone?

Production I.G and Xebec gives me more reasons to look forward to this. Well, mostly because of Production I.G since I haven't really watched much series done by Xebec. I am expecting some quality animation especially in the mecha fights, then again my eyes kinda phail in this area ~~I finished watching Nabari no Ou XD~~

Main reason I want to watch this is non other than the cast. Seiyuus, seiyuus and seiyuus.
There's Souichiro "Ultimate Coordinator" Hoshi, the awesome Kaminyan (zetsubou?!), Kazuya "swordsmen" Nakai, ToriKou and Nakamura Yuuichi (I hope I will not come to hate his character OTL).
There's a few female seiyuu that I'm fond of - Saito Chiwa (Senjougahara is my favourite) Hanazawa ~~loli~~ Kana and Inoue Marina.

It's a movie series I would like to finish, the other being Kara no Kyoukai. But I shall decide after watching the first installation.

So, I finally decided to pick up Beelzebub. Have watched up till 8 episodes (OVA included) and downloaded 2 volumes of the manga. I sheeet you not.

Okay, first the style and the delinquents irked me a little. Then again, Reborn and Tsuna gave the same impression when I first picked up KHR. The series also reminded me of One Piece. My mind does work in weird ways.
Here's proof.

Katsuyuki Konishi doing Oga Tatsumi, the evil, badass, more-or-less a jerk with a heart of gold is fun to watch. Beelzebub or Berubo which I prefer calling :3 ish adorable to an extent and believe me, Miyuki Sawashiro does a FAAAAABULOUS job voicing a demon baby whose vocabulary consists of mainly "DAHs", "BUHs" and "DaBuhs".
I find Hildegarde aka the gothic lolita maid with boobies an interesting watch, maybe 'cause she's a -dere? My -dere knowledge is almost zilch so I can't really tell. Through a shipper's eyes, I think she has chemistry with Oga Tatsumi.
Megane-san's favourite character is the dame-dame-ish Furuichi aka Lord Strategist of Ishiyama. Voiced by the same guy that did Salt Road Nagasumi-san, he is the sidekick that provides comic relief. There's more to his character than that but I haven't gotten that deep into the manga plot yet.

The main point of this post is to just spam some art, though TatsumixHilda is still quite scarce. Perhaps people actually prefer TatsumixAoi... BRRRRRR.

Finally ...!! (again) The episode that has been delayed and delayed and now it's released. Yay !!

Okay, to be honest, I'm just excited about the idea of a new BL episode. YonekunixShirou ain't exactly my OTP for Sex Pistols. Heck, I don't even have an OTP but that's besides the point.

This episode merged the two couples - YonekunixShirou and JoshuaxTeruhiko together.
Nice to hear them speak, but ultimately nothing beats the manga *sighs*.

Apparently they changed the OP, which I did not bother watching in the first OVA. LOL.

Finally, the episode I've been waiting for - Yoshino Chiaki no Baai !!!
If you're big fan, you've probably listened to the drama CD.
If you've listened to the drama CD, you might lament the fact that Deen has once again switch a little things here and there AAAAND REMOVING CERTAIN VERY CRUCIAL SCENES AND SFX.

Let's start off with "THE KAN" aka Yanase Yuu, voiced by THE Kaminyan.

I think a lot of characters in Nakamura-sensei's universe love this cooking series.
Next, the uke aka Yoshino Chiaki, voiced by Tachibana Shinnosuke (remember me?).

Uke-in-denial? Check. Soon-to-get-jealous? Check. Screams a lot, especially like the (in)famous Takahashi Misaki? Check, Check and Check.

Finally, the seme aka Hatori Yoshiyuki, voiced by "HAZAMAAAA" Nakamura Yuuichi.
Reminds me a little of Asahina Kaoru, editor-in-chief Isaka's seme :3

So, the spring anime season has gotten off with a good(?) start. Series that I intended to pick up when the list was first released aka Steins;Gate, Ao no Exorcist and Sekai Ichi Hatsukoi, I ended up putting them aside. I've been following the manga for both AoEx and Sekaiichi so it is understandable but Steins;Gate is just... *awkward pause*

Moving along, I picked up Hanasaku Iroha - endearing slice of life series so far and this one below.

Lo and behold, C !!!!

Why watch this? Beware of biased, eye-roll inducing, fangirling comments.

1. The name.
Ain't C: The Money of Soul and Possibility of Control cool? Even the main title *points up* looks spiffy.

2. Masakaki

Or rather Takahiro Sakurai, whichever you prefer. Masakaki, the colourful clown with lots of makeup, creepy and a funky dressing sense. Slightly stalker-ish too. Reminds me of Kusuriuri from Ayakashi/Mononoke.

I sees ~~j00~~ youuuuuu.

3. Moe and Killer looking "assets"
Yep, you saw right. A-S-S-E-T-S. Apparently they are known as assets, kinda like summons for battle.

Well, maybe not denial, but he certainly has pride. I still think a badass character should be the protagonist, why is it always a shounen or shoujo??!! Maybe I should watch something more seinen OTL

I pray he doesn't scream too much in the series.

5. The wise ~~old~~ ~~middle-aged~~ young? man
Perhaps the coolest guy in the series, if you don't count Masakaki and the other assets. Has the physics-defying-on-the-shoulder-flaps-but-never-falls-off-Hibari-styled jacket.

It just won't fall off.

He takes it off during battles though... He seems like a good guy now, but I'm sure there's more than meets the eye considering the premise of this show - battle for $$$$.
